ABOUT ZAGROS MARATHON

Founded with passion and a love of running, having a marathon in the Kurdistan region has long been my dream, or dare I say, an obsession. I myself have experienced the exhilaration and sense of accomplishment that comes with finishing a race. The adrenaline, the endurance, that feeling of personal achievement that just keeps calling you back. And don't get me started on the running community, every event I join is full of amazing people! I just love running marathons.  Now I want to bring this experience and this feeling to the land of my birth. 

When you run through the Zagros Mountains you experience the sheer beauty of the landscape as it channels thousands of years of history and human endeavour. The beauty of the trails that once formed part of the historic Silk Route is awe inspiring, you will never forget this feeling. Surrounded by mountains that almost envelope you in their embrace as they tower around you, you feel truly alive. 

I want to inspire the new generation of runners from Kurdistan and beyond to strive to achieve, and chase their dreams. And I want to challenge international runners out there, dispel preconceptions and come and see for yourself how truly and absolutely amazing the Zagros Mountains and its people are!
